Synopsis
Photographer’s model Drew Angel is no pushover. He’s been hurt more times than he can count by men that see him as nothing more than the pretty face on the other side of their lens.
So when his drunken cab driver runs into the back of a beaten-up old Porsche on the way to the station, he tries to ignore the attractive other driver’s attentions. He knows men like Simeon King, and he knows better than to succumb to their superficial charms. Even when he learns the truth, that Simeon’s father recently passed away and the car was his only real legacy, Drew keeps an arm’s length between them.
But Drew Angel has a Christmas tradition: he and his sister give out gifts at the children’s home where they grew up before they found their forever family.
He has to get home for the big day. And when the trains are all cancelled because of the weather, how can he possibly turn down the offer of a ride?

My Review
I wanted to read this title because I was looking for a reading not too long to pass the time during my two days of digestive problem which forced me to stay in bed. Wonderful way to end 2020 and start 2021...
I prefer slow burns in romances but here, the characters are well constructed because we discover their pasts so it bothered me less. The evolution of the characters' personalities and their relationship is also interesting to follow.
The story is made of chance, encounters and decisions that change the future of Simeon and Drew. A pretty hot little story because it includes a few detailed sex scenes.
Overall, the text is easy to understand. I just dealt with a few words that I didn't know. This is probably because the author is British and I'm more used to read American English.

The beautiful cover immediately caught my eye. It is one of my favorites from September to December 2020.
The synopsis made me want to read this prequel. We discover a little this world where there are shifters. I like dragons shifters
.It was too short. We don't have time to get to know the characters well. I want more because there are already several questions that I ask myself. I wait impatiently for book one.

It was the cover that caught my eye and the synopsis confirmed my choice.
It is the prequel of the series so it is a short format which allows us to discover a little the universe and the main characters.
It's a mixture of paranormal, mystery and immediate attraction that gives a taste of what to expect and makes me want to continue the reading.
The pen of Meg Anne was unknown to me but she has already written several series. I will look in it after reading "Hint of Danger".

Description
Ask your brother’s best friend nicely, and he’ll teach you how to date. He might even teach you how to kiss…
Zoe Walsh is the most awkward girl in Beachbreak High. For years, she’s admired her crush from afar, but she’s NEVER talked to him. What would she even say? She doesn’t know the first thing about boys, or dating. The only thing she really knows is dancing.
Mason McClellan is the charming, all-star quarterback who gets all the girls. He’s also Zoe’s brother’s best friend. This year, he plans to take the hottest girl in school to Homecoming. But she refuses to be his date unless he can dance. Sadly, Mason has two left feet.
When Zoe approaches Mason for dating advice, he cuts her a deal: if she teaches him how to dance, he’ll teach her how to date. Lessons include how to get your crush to notice you, how to get asked on a date, and how to kiss.
The last thing they expect is to fall for each other. But as Homecoming draws near, Zoe wonders – if dating Mason is just practice, how come it feels so much like the real thing?

My Review
It was first the title of the book that intrigued me and then the summary made me want to read it.
The main theme is regularly used in books (the brother's best friend) but for the moment, I don't feel tired because I don't read them often.
The characters are fun to follow. I have a preference for Zoe because I find her character a little more in-depth than Mason.
The story is beautiful, without headach, reads easily and has done me a lot of good in this troubled period.
I plan to follow this series because I want to know more about some characters that I have noticed.
Emily Lowry also wrote "Rumors and Lies at Evermore High Series".

My Review
I wanted to read this title so much that I almost chained book two and three, except that I realized that it was not necessarily easy for my little French head. From now on, I will always read another book between two books of the same series.
The story start about a week after the end of the previous volume. There is always this succession of quiet moments full of hugs with more eventful scenes.
The author offers us new surprises and a scenario not very predictable except for the end which did not really surprise me.
The characters are still pleasant to follow and Cruz begins to appear more sympathetic to me (it almost pains me to admit it). The relationship between the characters evolves. Do we go to a trio or something else? No idea but for the moment I totally agree.
I continue my adventure with this series. It's rare that I'm so enthusiastic after several books.

Fantasizing about Trevor Grimm is Kylie Hood’s favorite escape from her cruel reality. So, when he asks for her help on a school project, sparks are bound to fly and her dreams are going to come true ...
Not in this fairy tale.
No, everything changes when Kylie meets Logan Grimm, Trevor’s older cousin and a professional MMA fighter some call the Big Bad Wolf.
He’s the first person to peer under the hood she hides beneath. He’s the first person to see the signs that something is wrong. He’s the first person to give her any attention. And he’s offering to help protect her.
But Logan’s world isn’t safe. It’s dirty, exhilarating, and dangerous. It’s everything Kylie needs to stay away from.

My Review
When I first saw the cover, I immediately thought of Little Red Riding Hood. The title also contributed. I applaud the illustrator because the cover is so gorgeous and represents Kylie perfectly.
I haven't read the Gods & Monsters Trilogy because I just discover the author. Thoses who have read the Trilogy will more easily understand certain things but for me, it is not important because I am at the same level as Kylie and discover everything like her.
The universe looks like ours at first glance except that I quickly noticed some things after the first third.
I have a hard time with some characters even though I love following Logan and Kylie. I was still a little shocked that Kylie dared to say stop only after starting to hang out with Logan. Not having his character, I will be gone a long time ago or I will have replied in one way or another.
Although we find ourselves in a dark universe with difficult times, I had a hard time stopping reading to sleep (5 a.m. 😨). I thought about this book until I finished it and even after because the end comes a little abruptly. I was not prepared.
I will read the next book because I want to know more. Highly December.

My Review
I am delighted to find again the author's Hispanic universe. On the other hand, mythology question, I am very little served. I stay on my hunger.
We begin this second book a little after the end of the first. It's less hectic in the first part because we are in the village but in the second we go from surprises to surprises and we are again in road trip mode.
I still have the same opinion on the characters. I still cannot appreciate Cruz even if I was able to discover his past. Between Adelita and Santos, it's almost fusional. Rafi shows his vulnerable side.
I didn't expect this reaction from Adelita at the end of the story. I wish I had the next book to continue my reading.
The author's pen is still so fluid. The pages scroll without us realizing it.
I don't know if the third book will be the last in the series but I can't wait to read it.

Synopsis
A contract with a devil…?
Gabriel Morgan never imagines his eighteenth birthday will end with the doors of his home being kicked in by gun-wielding thugs intent on stealing away his little sister as payment for his estranged father’s gambling debts. Pushed into an impossible corner, Gabriel is on the brink of doing something unspeakable when billionaire business mogul Darrien Stathos steps into the fray and announces a contract that nullifies all other claims—for Gabriel. Only too willing to be the sacrificial martyr to save his family, the cost of surrendering himself to Darrien, however, may be more than Gabriel bargains for.
Demon, alien, vampire, or just a plain human monster rumored to be the international crime lord known as Kairos, Gabriel has heard all whispered about this handsome, yet intimidating, savior. Whispers he is starting to fear are true when he witnesses a few disturbing incidents involving Darrien that cannot be rationally explained. Add to that the constant harassment of a couple of FBI agents intent on unearthing damning evidence that will prove that the crime lord, Kairos, is Darrien’s true face, as well as an assassination attempt on Darrien, and Gabriel starts to think that maybe sharing Darrien’s bed is the least daunting thing he will have to face.
Who is Darrien really, and why is he so interested in an ordinary guy like Gabriel, a guy just struggling to help his family make ends meet like millions of others? Gabriel isn’t sure he wants to know the answer, but when has the universe ever given him anything other than the finger?

My Review
I wanted to read this title because I like things related to the paranormal and MM romances. Besides, when you see a title like "Lord of Time" it intrigues you even more and makes you think of "Doctor Who". Here, we are far from this universe.
I enjoyed this book for about forty percent. Afterwards, I felt like I was reading a paranormal-infused parallel universe class plus a few sex scenes posed there. It did not alleviate my growing boredom.
I still forced myself to finish the book to see if the tone would change, but no.
At the beginning, the characters interested me but the more I discovered them, the less I liked them except two or three. Darrien, I easily understood his reactions as Gabriel made me wondering over some of his decisions. Especially the one involving his friends.
I do not intend to continue this series. Scientific explanations are too long and boring. Romance almost non-existent. The ending didn't surprise me at all because I was expecting something like that.
I did not know the author who uses two pen names. I'm still going to try one of her other books under her other name to see if her style is more fluid and pleasant.

Synopsis
She spent her life running from them. Now she’s going to school with them.
For as long as she could remember, Kennedy’s mother had called her a demon, but she’d never believed her; her mother was ill. And then the Archangel Gabriel appeared trying to kill her. When divine intervention steps in, Kennedy finds herself whisked away to Greenwood Preparatory University.
Hellfire Academy, as the students call it, is home to nephilim like her. To the outside world it’s an exclusive college. To some of the student body, it’s a training academy—and one of the professors is Gabriel. Kennedy has the year to prove that she can stay out of trouble, which would be easy to do if she wasn't getting distracted by an archangel.
When Kennedy’s roommate has a vision that the college will be attacked, it’s up to Kennedy to stop that from happening. Only it’s hard to know who to trust when you’re the one everyone thinks is evil.

My Review
It was the cover that caught my eye when I was looking at the available ARCs. So I wanted to know more and I went to read the synopsis which totally intrigued me.
Since "Vampire Academy", I have not read anything with this term (Academy) in the title while there is a lot of books at the moment except that it's mostly Reverse Harem. Here it's not the case and I say good because we focus more on some highly interesting characters.
We discover a world where angels exist. They are one of the people I like to see in paranormal romances so it's cheerfully that I started reading this title.
From the first pages, I identified myself with Kennedy when we don't have much in common. I enjoyed following her in her rediscovery of the world and who she is after having been confronted with stressful events. I liked the relationship with Gabriel. We can feel the growing tension.
The author's pen is fluid. I was caught up in the story from the start and almost read it all at once. I was angry when someone came to disturb me for lunch. Once the meal is eaten, I plunged back into it until the end.
I discovered the author thanks to this title and I am delighted. To better understand the universe, I might read the Angel series. What is clear is that the book two is already on my wishlist.

My Review
I have a little passion for romances involving aliens but I rarely find books that live up to my expectations. Mostly books in French. I am therefore delighted to be able to read in English and to discover the pen of new authors like Cara Bristol.
I saw this title on Booksprout and immediately wanted to read it. This is how I learned about the large "Intergalactic Dating Agency" collection which involves several authors.
The story begins in another arm of the universe where I have no desire to set foot and features several characters who will each have their story in their future books.
Chameleon made me think of the movie "Avatar" in certain aspects of his appearance but the resemblance ends there. Kevanne has a cheerful less life past but she made me laugh by some of her reactions.
The characters are interesting to discover and to follow. Even if we have an idea of the ending of the story, what happens between the beginning and the end is not predictable.
The last page arrives faster than I expected because I would have liked to know more. I hope that we will be entitled to some information in book two.
I plan to read the next book because "Wingman" has wings. Logic considering the name.

Description
Fae freak. Killer. Abomination.
I’ve been accused of terrible crimes.
And I’m far from innocent.
My uncontrollable powers earned me a cell in Wayward Fae Penitentiary where the inmates have it out for me and the guards turn a blind eye to every bit of violence. I’m here for one reason only, and that’s to assassinate the ruthless unseelie prince.
Viktor claims he’s going to break me, make me wish I never set foot in his prison. If that were true, why does he keep saving me from the dangerous alpha shifter salivating for my blood?
W.F.P. is not your average lockup. The prince has more authority than the warden, creatures roam the halls at night, and a war between unseelies and shifters is brewing.
When I’m viciously attacked, Viktor brings me back from the brink of death, but no one could have foreseen the consequences. How could I go through with my mission now?
If I kill him, I’ll become the monster everyone thinks I am.
If I don’t, innocent blood will spill.

My Review
It is the beautiful cover that made me want to discover this title. The summary confirmed my choice.
The universe is very interesting with a mix of fae, shifters, elves and daemons. Something to delight paranormal and fantasy fans.
The characters are mostly pleasant, some irritating: we need to have some to hate. I immediately loved Sloane and then Vik. Each of their confrontations is delightful, it blows hot and cold.
The story leads us to make discoveries about the world that Sloane discovered as well as about different characters.
If my reading had to be described in one word: wow! I hung from start to finish. There is action, almost no downtime and no risk of getting bored. It's an addictive reading and I fell in love with the characters and the author's pen.
I will of course read the next book. December seems far away to me, but it's always better than waiting a year or two, as it's the case for some series published in France.
I didn't know J.N. Colon but I'm going to take a closer look at her other titles.

Yet the longer they travel together, the more Adelita realizes there's more to them than muscle and magic... and more to her than her secret.
When her abilities come to light, Adelita isn't sure if the guys can offer a safe place to hide, or if the trouble they bring might be worse than a life without their protection. Though she knows she has to leave them, her heart tells her to stay...
...Even if it means certain death.

My Review
It was first the cover that attracted me to this title. The woman on it is Latin so that changes nicely. I like diversity because it is diversity that makes the world nicer. The summary convinced me to read this first book.
The universe created by the author is well constructed and coherent for what I could see. Exactly in my favorite genre with novelty on the mythological side. I am waiting to discover more to have a better view.
If the beginning seemed a bit chaotic to me, I was quickly drawn into the story which is more like a survival road trip.
The narration is being carried out by several characters, it is good that the author has thought of notifying us who it is at the beginning of each chapter. I find it helpful to have different points of view.
The characters are all very interesting even if I have a lot of trouble with Cruz. Many times he makes you want to kill him in his sleep. I much prefer to follow the evolution between Santos and Adelita.
The ending is literally grrr. You clearly want to know the rest given the way it ends. What I want and will do when it will be published.
My reading was pleasant and the author's pen fluid. I want strongly the continuation.
I didn't know Mary E. Twomey before reading this title, but being French, I discover English-writing authors almost every week.

Description
The human composed a song in his heart, a pull he couldn’t ignore, a draw that demanded further exploration—
When he answered a distress call, L’Den hadn’t expected to find one of the Invaders waiting for him. The tug he feels on his soul is even more surprising, drawing him closer to the woman, in spite of her humanity. Both his second-in-command and H’tch, his companion mogha, seem fine with leaving her behind and letting the desert deal with the problem, but he’s not so sure.
Tessa has spent the last two years hoping for a way off the harsh desert planet where her research vessel crashed, watching her friends die one-by-one, and befriending a strange creature of the sand. But when a rescue ship does arrive, she realizes she might have been better off lost. The Korthans, savage aliens bent on the destruction of humankind, aren’t happy to find her. And yet, despite her fear, she can’t deny the pull she feels towards one of them.
Korthans only have one chance to find a true mate, but chasing after the human could risk the safety of the colony he’s sworn to protect. Even though the call of a mating bond demands a higher loyalty, L’Den never expected to have to choose.

It was clearly the cover that made me want to know more but I confess that I expected a longer story.
The story takes place in another galaxy and in a distant future from us during a war between humans and aliens.
The universe created is coherent and the vessel very interesting. My scientific side is intrigued.
The characters are well worked and the beings who accompany them are amusing by their behavior.
I had a great time with this book and I'm already wondering what to expect next.

Description
Only the beautiful can love, the graceful thrive, and the powerful reign… and I am none of those things.
Fated to be the ugly princess, I was locked away behind castle doors. My father reigned with immortal power, and brothers and sisters were adored and loved by our people, and the throne that was supposed to belong to me would go my brother instead.
I wanted it all...
I turned to a darker magic, one without limits that would set me free... but love had other plans. My powers demanded sacrifice, but little did I know the greatest would be my heart.

The cover intrigued me so I wanted to know more. The summary being attractive, I decided to apply to the ARC.
I didn't understand right away that this was a prequel to a series to be released in 2021. Only after seeing the author's note, but I didn't mind.
We enter a universe where there are immortals and magic. We follow Evangeline in her quest for revenge that will put her on the path to truth and love.
I read this prequel quickly but the end left me very sad. My reading was pleasant and I hope that the rest will be just as exciting.

Her love will redeem him.

My Review
It was the cover and the name "Lucifer" that caught my attention. The summary is tempting so I did not think long before applying to the ARC.
We dive directly into a world where angels are very present but humans are not supposed to see them. The duality between good and evil is well brought about.
The beginning made me giggle because I really liked it. It's my demonic side that stands out (Lol).
The characters are very endearing. I adored Lucifer most of the time except towards the end when I took pity on him. Lucia who initially looks strong seems more fragile later.
It was a delightful story from start to finish. It's a short but exciting format. You will not be bored.
I am delighted to have been able to discover the pen of Matilda Martel. She has other titles to her credit that you can find on her website (link below).

Description
She knew Ethan was a loner…
…but didn’t understand why.
Is he eccentric or does he have a secret?
Mikayla was painfully shy. Being different was hard. The condition, called synesthesia, caused her to see colors when music was played. She only wanted two things, to become a world-class violinist and to make a friend. Will she be able to handle life in an exclusive music school?
The competition was fierce.
And below the surface, a scandal…
…that the administration will do anything to keep hidden.
When she saw Ethan playing an accompaniment on piano for violin, she saw the colors around him from the direction of the violin, but there was just one problem.
He was alone.

I like purple. It was naturally that my gaze fell on the cover. The summary intrigued me. So I wanted to read it.
The first chapter was a good start but then I struggled to enter into the story. It took a long time for me to begin to like it: thirty percent of the book.
The story takes place mostly on a campus and follows music students. There are several characters that we meet who will experience the paranormal, but some are more important than others. They are nice but I didn't have a feeling for them.
When the musicians played, I heard music in my head. It's the first book I've read that talks about music so I don't know if it's normal or if I'm haunted (LOL).
My reading was pleasant but nothing more. Only the paranormal side really interested me. This book was obviously not for me.
I didn't know at the author but she has other titles to her credit.

Trouble comes in all different sizes...
My name is Dylan Gleason and I have a reputation as a troublemaker—which is why I'm currently serving time on the ice down here with the New Orleans Bourdons. I keep telling myself I'll prove them all wrong and work my way back to the top of my game.
Then I meet Morgan Raymond, the runaway bride with more baggage than a week-long road trip. They can call me a troublemaker all they want but they haven't met Morgan yet--
Something tells me I just met my match...

My Review
After the first volume, I wanted to read this book because I liked the summary. Since it was available in the ARC list on Booksprout, I took the opportunity to read it
This time, another Hockey player is in the spotlight. The relationship between the players is more sympathetic and a little more present.
The beginning made me laugh, even if for nothing in the world I would want to find myself in this situation.
The relationship between Dylan and Morgan is a bit of the same type as that of Nathan and Addy (volume 1) while being different. I am delighted to see that the characters in the first volume play an important role and are very present.
Morgan reveals herself very slowly. One wonders what is holding her back and making her want to run away. When I found out the why, I thought it was a stupid reason.
Dylan is easier to understand. He goes out of his way so he want to understand his actions. Sometimes he reacts before he thinks.
My reading was pleasant but I remain on a question concerning Morgan: what does she do for a living ? Still no problem of understanding with the author's pen.

Description
Dangerous magic, a dark god, and ancient secrets.
Archaeologist Pellucid Rose discovers THE find of the century when an earthquake hits her Mycenae, Greece dig. But before she can claim it, a dark, dangerous, and very sexy stranger steps from a swirl of shadows claiming she’s loosed a sphinx on the world by translating an ancient secret on one of the scrolls.
What’s more, he insists Secret Magic requires her to go with him to capture the ferocious creature.
Against better judgment, Pell teams up with the hot stranger to discover a world of magic where the impossible is reality, crooked mortals hide corrupt secrets, and mysteries older than myth can kill you. That thought alone makes her heart race, but things get even worse when she discovers he’s hiding world-altering secrets, and only she has what it takes to stop him.
My Review
It was the Cover that caught my eye on Booksprout. She's really beautiful. The summary then convinced me to read the book. So I eagerly applied for the ARC.
I didn't wait long before I started reading. Just enough time to finish another book. I read it in three times because I have been disturbed a little too often. For my family, reading and writing a review means doing nothing ...
The universe is a mixture of mythologies, secrets and a good dose of mystery. It is very promising. When, in addition, there is a god involved, I fall directly into the author's spider web. You got me !The story begins at an archaeological site and it moves a lot. Everything looks normal until ... get the book if you want to know more.
Question characters, I had a little trouble with Pell at the beginning because she asks herselftoo many questions. Otherwise, she's not like female characters that I like to follow in general because she is not a strong head and has more tendency to want to hide than to face situations. She looks more like us.
Harpoc remains mysterious almost until three quarters of the story. Of course, we the readers suspect what he is quite quickly.
I really liked the story but only after several chapters because it took me a while to adapt to the style of the author. There were some terms that I had trouble understanding. English isn't my mother tongue.
I will of course read the other books in the series because I want to know how the relationship between Pell and Harpoc will evolve as well as discover "his world".
With this title, I discovered L.R.W. Lee. She already has other titles to her credit such as the "Sand Maiden" series.

ALEXIA RAINE NEEDS TO BE RESCUED BY A WEREWOLF.
Not just any werewolf either, but the top enforcer in the Bryant Pack. Which is why Neil Duran is pulled off a major case by his High Alpha to retrieve this unknown daughter of their most valuable member, or their entire wolf pack in the Pacific Northwest will lose all hard-won territory, shifting the balance of powers.
But convincing this feisty woman to come with him poses its own problems.
First, Alexia Raine never knew her real father.
Second, she doesn’t know that werewolves even exist.
Or that she herself might be one.
Or that their rival wolf pack will stop at nothing to acquire her for several unspeakable reasons.
Worse, she’s the most aggravating, infuriating, intoxicating woman he’s had the displeasure to rescue, and he may very well be falling in love with her.

My Review
It was on Booksprout that I discovered this title and its author. The summary having pleased me very much, I let myself be tempted by this ARC.
We are in a world where there are shifters and humans. In the Bit-Lit genre, one of my favorites.
I easily entered the story where I followed Alexia in her discovery of a world she did not know. I liked her very much because she has a strong character. She also has a flaw: she rushes headlong.
Neil seems impenetrable at first, a stubborn kind of guy, but we come to understand him little by little.
The only character who hasn't convinced me is Erik.
There is no sex scene but, as I have said for other books, it doesn't bother at all. Quite the contrary.
I was so immersed in the book that I read it almost in one go. I would have liked to know a little more, particulary on the "grade" that Alexia will have.
I will read the next book which will be with Jake. I just discovered that there is novella prequels which explains more certain things. I'll see if I can find them (=> found it).
