Synopsis
When Zoë reveals proof of vampires to the world, has she sentenced the one she loves to death?

After years of being alone, Rowan is ready to end his immortal life. Weak from starvation and overcome by bloodlust, he attacks a human in public and is captured by police.

When Zoë discovers that the intriguing, new prisoner brought to the jail where she works is a dangerous vampire, she can’t resist revealing the evidence to the world. But as she gets to know him, she realizes he’s not the monster everyone thinks he is.

Rowan’s life finally has meaning again as more vampires come forward and he learns he’s not as alone as he thought. But his chances of release disappear when the world explodes at the discovery of vampires, and he knows he’ll die in prison.

There’s only one way Zoë can save the vampire she’s fallen in love with, but is she brave enough to give up everything for him?

My Review
>>Review originally published in French in January 2019 when I started to read in English<<
As you can see, I started reading in English. Which is much easier than I imagined, past the first two pages. I don't spend more time reading in English than in French.
I preferred to start with a free book to be sure of my choice. It's Paranormal Romance so I'm on familiar ground even though vampires here are a little different from what I've read in other books.
I liked Zoe very much even if at the beginning I found her too easily influenced. Especially by her sister. And not very thoughtful about her actions. It is only afterwards that her rises in my esteem.
Rowan's behavior didn't shock me because I'm a bit jaded about vampires who want to end their lives.
The story is quite fluid. I didn't know a few words but it didn't really bother me. It all comes together well with hardly any downtime.
This little appetizer made me want to continue the series, to discover new characters and to learn more about these vampires.
Rating : 9,6/10
